Open to UX roles & freelance

I make digital things people actually like using.

I'm Joshua — a UX designer in Southern California. I found design through a game I couldn't put down, and these days I work on interfaces, brands, and the occasional entire business. The goal's always the same: clear, considered, and never boring.

Work

Selected projects

A game-interface concept, and a brand built end to end.
01 — Game UI

League of Legends — Ranked Tab

Concept redesign · UX & UI

A concept redesign of League's ranked tab, focused on making competitive play feel rewarding for new and returning players alike.

Rather than impose my own style, I worked within Riot's existing design language — matching their typography and hierarchy so the redesign felt native to the game, not bolted on.

Flow3r — a whole brand, solo

Brand & product design · start to finish

A premium glassware brand I took from concept to launch on my own — identity, storefront, and the product story tying it together.

The work spanned the full stack of design: a brand system, a custom storefront that reads more like a lookbook than a product grid, the copy, and the decisions behind how it guides someone toward a purchase.

Skills

What I bring across a project

Two very different projects — a game-UI concept and a brand built from scratch — stretched me across the whole product stack. Here's the range that came out of them.

UX

User research & surveys, competitive analysis, problem framing, user flows, information architecture, wireframing, ideation.

UI

Visual hierarchy, typography, design systems, component & interface design, responsive layout.

Brand & Product

Brand identity, naming, logo design, art direction, e-commerce & storefront design, merchandising & conversion, SEO copywriting.

Photography & Visual

Product photography, studio lighting for reflective glass, retouching & post-production, catalog consistency.

Build

Front-end (HTML/CSS), Shopify Liquid theming, AI-assisted "vibe coding," command-line workflows.

Tools

Figma, Shopify, Photoshop & Lightroom, Pirate Ship, Claude Code.

About

I grew up right as everyday tech was finding its footing — and I couldn't look away.

My elementary school still had chalkboards when I started; by fifth grade we'd swapped them for iPads. I watched the internet grow up, watched interfaces go from clunky to considered, and slowly realized that UX and UI are the quiet difference between tech that feels good and tech that just frustrates people.

Between that and a lot of hours in video games, I picked up a real feel for what makes an interface click — and what makes someone give up on it. That's what pulled me into design: I want to make tech that's easier and more fun to use. I'm just as comfortable following a tight design system as I am starting from a blank page, and I genuinely enjoy both.

When I'm not designing, you'll catch me at the racetrack, at the gym, or walking my neighborhood with music in. Want to make something? Let's talk.
